I went out to get the Sunday paper yesterday and ran right into my past in the form of Robert, the forklift operator from the manufacturing concern at which I was the whole art department for far too many years. I was downsized or rightsized or what ever back in 1995 and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Got me back into animation.
Today is my last animation history class at
Laguna College of Art & Design. Final test and we are done for this semester. Great group of students, but here is the thing, if they stay in the biz I will run unto them again and again at events and screenings so it is not like they are gone or forgotten.
Speaking of events,
E3 is this week and as the guy pushing for more ASIFA gaming interaction I am there. Tom Hanson, of
Game Crazy, one of my gaming judges from last year`s gaming Annie, and I are going to try to drum up more interest from the Gaming Community for the second gaming Annie Award coming up this year at the
34th Annual Annie Awards. Yes working on it already.
This year`s
E3 is planned to be a little different than years before with fewer booth babes, fewer Game Store Clerks and more professionals. I hope that means the sound levels are on the lesser side of ear shattering.
A big thanks to Michael Barrier, Linda Jones, John Canemaker, and Martha Sigall for all of their help over the weekend in chasing down rights on the
An Evening With DVD project. Things are moving nicely now.
Stop back in later this week for a report and photos from the Electronic Entertainment Expo. Time to pack my bag and head off to school.
