Nearsighted and unable to be a pilot, Jiro joins a Japanese engineering company, becoming one of the world¹s most innovative airplane designers. The film chronicles Jiro’s life, depicting historical events, including the 1923 Kanto Earthquake, the Great Depression, the tuberculosis epidemic and Japan¹s plunge into war.
