The ASIFA Booth is the center of our presence at Comic Con. The volunteers that man or woman
the booth are the backbone of our Comic Con experience. Without the booth workers there is no
ASIFA Comic con.
There are 31 hours (not counting Preview Night) of open exhibit hall in the Comic Con week. We
need to have at least 2 people in the booth at all times (not counting the artist at the Art Table)
which means 62 manhours of schedule at 2 hour shifts. Check the Schedule for open shifts.
We desperately need volunteers to fill our booth schedule or we will have no show. A couple of
2 hour schedules will mean a lot to us and will not be too big of a drain on anyone`s show.
Not only will you be helping out ASFIA-Hollywood you will be giving yourself a home base in
the sea on madness that is the modern day San Diego Comic Con. A place to set down and rest or
to leave your bags.
We have 31 (2 hour) shifts to fill. Saturday is the easy day to fill and
Thurday the hardest to fill. Mornings are harder to fill than afternoons.
This year we have 3 Booth Leaders:
- Jon Reeves (opening and mornings)
- Steve Gattuso (days)
- Marcus Adams (Afternoons and Closing)
That gives up a covered schedule of only 11 shifts out of 31 (not counting opening, closing, setup
break down, and Preview Night). So we have 21 (2 hour) shifts left to cover.
Larry Loc, the ASIFA Comic Con Coordinator, (that's me) well be in and out of the booth as needed
and schedule allows. Comic Con is always an adrenaline driven endurance race for me. The times
that I do get to spend in the booth are some of the best and most restful of my 5 days of madness.
Still I try not to schedule myself for any booth hours because of the need to be on the go keeping all
the different events in the air. (this never works)
I have all the presentations to run, the video crew to take care of and a number of my own
screenings and programs to put on. This gives me very little free time. But I end up filling
holes in the schedule so I get my fair share of time in the booth, and then some. Currently I
am scheduled only for Saturday opening (because Jon Reeves as an employee of Internet Movie
Data Base needs to be free the Movie heavy Saturday schedule. So I will be opening for him).
What is comes down to is you, as a ASIFA Volunteer, are needed to make this happen. we can't, I
can't it do without your help. Check the Schedule, pick a time, give me an email
