Award Categories

Outstanding Individual Achievement

For the purposes of the Individual Achievement Awards, both home video and feature productions shall be considered eligible for the "Feature" categories and all television productions shall be considered eligible for the "Television" categories. Individuals who have worked on television commercials, promotional productions, shorts, etc., that first aired on television shall also be considered eligible for the "Television" categories. Individual Achievement awards will not be given for work done on theatrically released short subjects, interactive productions, etc.

Categories which do not differentiate between "Television" and "Feature" work (i.e., Character Animation, Effects Animation) are open to all animated productions.

 

 

  Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Character Animation
  1. An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Character Animation shall be awarded to an Animator for creative excellence in the field of animation.
  2. Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as, an Animator on a single character, or multiple characters in a single production, appearing in any medium, including live action, that was originally released between August 1, 1999 and July 31, 2000.
  3. Mechanical Requirements for Entry: Submit two copies of the completed entry form. Entry form should include a description of the individual's contribution to the finished production. Please include with the entry a VHS videocassette of the finished scene(s) that were animated by the person whose work is being submitted for consideration. Multiple scenes from a single production may be submitted on a single tape. The total running time for all scenes may not exceed five minutes in length. Be sure to label the cassette and cassette box as indicated above under Submission and Mechanical Requirements.
  Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Effects Animation
  1. An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Effects Animation shall be awarded to an Animator for creative excellence in the field of animation.
  2. Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as, an Effects Animator on a single effect, or multiple effects in a single production, appearing in any medium, including live action, that was originally released between August 1, 1999 and July 31, 2000.
  3. Mechanical Requirements for Entry: Submit two copies of the completed entry form. Entry form should include a description of the individual's contribution to the finished production. Please include with the entry a VHS videocassette of the finished scene(s) that were animated by the person whose work is being submitted for consideration. Multiple scenes from a single production may be submitted on a single tape. The total running time for all scenes may not exceed five minutes in length. Be sure to label the cassette and cassette box as indicated above under Submission and Mechanical Requirements.
  Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Directing in an Animated Television Production
  1. An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Directing in an Animated Television Production shall be awarded to an individual for creative excellence in the field of animation.
  2. Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as, Director on an animated television production, originally appearing on television between August 1, 1999 and July 31, 2000. A team of Directors is also eligible to receive this award provided that each person received identical screen credit as Director on the production.
  3. Mechanical Requirements for Entry: Submit two copies of the completed entry form. Entry form should include a description of the individual or team's contribution to the finished production. Please include with the entry a VHS videocassette of the entire production. Be sure to label the cassette and cassette box as indicated above under Submission and Mechanical Requirements.
  Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Directing in an Animated Feature Production
  1. An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Directing in an Animated Feature Production shall be awarded to an individual for creative excellence in the field of animation.
  2. Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit as, Director on an animated theatrical feature or animated home video production that was originally released between August 1, 1999 and July 31, 2000. A team of Directors is also eligible to receive this award provided that each person received a screen credit as "Director" or "Co-Director" on the production.
  3. Mechanical Requirements for Entry: Submit two copies of the completed entry form. Entry form should include a description of the individual or team's contribution to the finished production. Please include with the entry a VHS videocassette of the entire production or a clip of the finished scene(s) that are representative of the nominee's contribution. Multiple scenes from a single production may be submitted on a single tape. The total running time for all scenes may not exceed five minutes in length. Be sure to label the cassette and cassette box as indicated above under Submission and Mechanical Requirements.
  Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Music in an Animated Television Production
  1. An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Music in an Animated Television Production shall be awarded for creative excellence in the field of animation.
  2. Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit for writing the score, music, or a song on an animated television production, originally appearing on television between August 1, 1999 and July 31, 2000. This award may be given to a team of individuals (e.g., composer and lyricist) who have worked on, and received credit on, the production.
  3. Musical elements of a production should be submitted individually (i.e., each song and the score/music should be submitted as an individual entry).
  4. Mechanical Requirements for Entry: Submit two copies of the completed entry form and a VHS videocassette of the finished scene(s) featuring the music and/or song submitted for consideration. For songs, the length of the clip should correspond with the length of the song. For a score, a single scene or multiple scenes featuring the music may be submitted, not to exceed five minutes in length. Be sure to label the cassette and cassette box as indicated above under Submission and Mechanical Requirements.
  Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Music in an Animated Feature Production
  1. An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Music in an Animated Feature Production shall be awarded for creative excellence in the field of animation.
  2. Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of, and received screen credit for writing the score, music, or a song on an animated theatrical feature or animated home video production that was originally released between August 1, 1999 and July 31, 2000. This award may be given to a team of individuals (e.g., composer and lyricist) who have worked on, and received credit on, the production.

  2. Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the area of, and received screen credit for, color, design, layout, background painting, or art direction on an animated television production, originally appearing on television between August 1, 1999 and July 31, 2000.
  3. Mechanical Requirements for Entry: Submit two copies of the completed entry form and a maximum of ten reproduced pieces (e.g., ten backgrounds, ten model sheets). Please include with the entry a VHS videocassette of the finished scene(s) that demonstrates the way in which the submitted pieces were used in the final production. Multiple scenes from a single production may be submitted on a single tape. The total running time for all scenes may not exceed five minutes in length. Be sure to label the cassette and cassette box as indicated above under Submission and Mechanical Requirements. The submitted pieces should be similarly labeled.

  1. An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Production Design in an Animated Feature Production shall be awarded to an individual for creative excellence in the field of animation.
  2. Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the area of, and received screen credit for color, design, layout, background painting, or art direction on an animated theatrical feature or animated home video production that was originally released between August 1, 1999 and July 31, 2000.

  1. An Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Storyboarding in an Animated Television Production shall be awarded to an individual for creative excellence in the field of animation.
  2. Eligibility: To be eligible to receive this award, an individual must have worked in the capacity of a Storyboard Artist on an animated television production, originally appearing on television between August 1, 1999 and July 31, 2000.
  3. Mechanical Requirements for Entry: Submit two copies of the completed entry form and a VHS videocassette (not to exceed five minutes) of the finished scene(s) that demonstrates the way in which the nominee's contribution was used in the final production. Multiple scenes from a single production may be submitted on a single tape. Please also include a reproduction of the storyboard that corresponds with the videocassette clip. Be sure to label the cassette and cassette box as indicated above under Submission and Mechanical Requirements. The storyboard should be similarly labeled.

Voice artists may submit additional entries for other characters.
