Animation Educators Forum’s Animation Salon “Fantasy/Animation”
July 21, 2024 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
ASIFA-Hollywood’s Animation Educators Forum will be hosting its fifth salon, this time with Fantasy/Animation’s Christopher Holliday and Alex Sergeant.
Fantasy/Animation (https://www.fantasy-animation.org/) is a website blending the conventions of fan-oriented news sites with the rigor of academia. Founded in May 2018 by Dr. Christopher Holliday (King’s College London) and Dr. Alexander Sergeant (University of Westminster), the project is devoted to broadening critical conversations around the study of animated fantasy media, while developing its scholarly identity as an open access educational resource. In this talk, Dr. Holliday and Dr. Sergeant will reflect on their motivations behind the Fantasy/Animation website, blog, and podcast; their approach to producing public-facing scholarship; and thoughts on both blogging and podcasting as outlets for academic research.
They will also discuss the origins of the project that began with the publication of the edited collection Fantasy/Animation: Connections Between Media, Mediums and Genres (Routledge, 2018).
Sunday, July 21, 2024, 11 AM PST on Zoom
