ABOMINABLE takes audiences on an epic adventure from the streets of a Chinese city to the breathtaking Himalayas. When teenage Yi encounters a young Yeti on her apartment building roof, she and her friends, Jin and Peng, name him “Everest” and embark on a quest to reunite Everest with his family. But the trio of friends will have to stay one-step ahead of Dr. Zara, a zoologist and Burnish, a wealthy mountaineer intent on capturing a Yeti.
A Q&A with writer/director Jill Culton, co-director Todd Wilderman, head of character animation John Hill, voice of Yi Chloe Bennet and visual development lead Elle Shi will follow the screening. Moderated by Jerry Beck.
Prior to the showing of ABOMINABLE, DreamWorks will screen its all-new short film MAROONED, directed by Andrew Erekson and produced by Jeff Hermann.
Marooned, tells the story of C-0R13, a cantankerous and selfish robot, stranded on an abandoned lunar outpost. C-0R13 longs to return to Earth and will stop at nothing to achieve his goal. Stumbling upon deactivated robot A-L1C1A, he’s put to the test when his naive pal helps him learn what it truly means to be selfless.
Running time: 92 minutes. Rated PG
RSVPs must include guests names. Members will be asked to present ASIFA-Hollywood membership cards at the door. We overbook screening events to account for no-shows and advise you to arrive early as seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. An RSVP does not guarantee seating.
Parking is available at the Hollywood & Highland complex, located underground and accessible from both North Orange Drive and Highland Avenue. A validated parking receipt will be available at the theater.
