A Coronavirus Bulletin for ASIFA-Hollywood Members

As news about the novel Coronavirus/COVID-19 continues to develop, the board and staff of ASIFA-Hollywood is doing everything we can to help keep our members safe, including monitoring state and local health authorities and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Late Wednesday evening the California Department of Public Heath issued a bulletin that included the following:

“To protect public health and slow the rate of transmission of COVID-19, gatherings as described below should be postponed or canceled across the state of California for at least the remainder of the month of March.

  • Large gatherings that include 250 people or more…This includes gatherings such as concerts, conferences, and professional, college, and school sporting events.
  • Smaller gatherings held in venues that do not allow social distancing of six feet per person…This includes gatherings in crowded auditoriums, rooms or other venues.”

In order to comply with the CDPF and in an abundance of caution to ensure the health and safety of our members, staff and the general public, all ASIFA-Hollywood public events are cancelled throughout the rest of this month.

Further announcements and actions, including rescheduling of cancelled events, will be posted as the situation warrants. Rest assured that we will keep you informed by email and on social media and our website.

In the meantime, we are asking everyone to follow the guidelines of the CDC by washing hands often, avoiding contact with those who are sick, covering coughs and sneezes and avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Most of all, if you are ill or in a high-risk group (ie: elderly, pregnant or with chronic medical conditions) please forgo any public gatherings and stay home.

Thank you for your continued support of ASIFA-Hollywood and your patience as we work to cope with this quickly developing situation. We will continue to send updates as needed.
