Championing Diversity in the Animation Industry
An event featuring animation luminaries who have each uniquely advanced diversity within the animation industry, including Jane Baer, Floyd Norman and Willie Ito. The panel will be moderated by film scholar Mindy Johnson.
From the earliest explorations of animated movement, a wide array of pioneering talent—women, Asian, African American, Latina, LGBTQ+—have played a vital part in transforming a cinematic novelty into a powerful industry. This event features trailblazing artists and writers—including Floyd Norman, Jane Baer and Willie Ito—who have each uniquely advanced diversity within the animation community. The Animation Guild will host a timely conversation about the history and current state of gender and race in animation production; followed by an industry mixer.
