About the Film

Meu Tio José (My Uncle José) takes place after the murder of José, a member of a left-wing political group who was a participant in the capture of the American ambassador to Brazil, Charles Elbrick, in 1969. José lived in exile for ten years before returning to Brazil where he was killed. The case remains unsolved.

José’s young nephew, Adonias, has been assigned to write an essay on the very day his uncle is attacked. Now he has to deal with the mourning of his family, with conflicts in school and with the anguish of having to complete the essay.
