GKIDs Invites Members and a Guest (ASIFA Member +1) to a Screening of “Ride Your Wave”
From director Masaaki Yuasa (The Night is Short, Walk On Girl, Devilman Crybaby) comes a deeply emotional tale of romance, grief and self-discovery, told with is Yuasa’s trademark visual ingenuity.
Hinako, a surf-loving college student falls in love with Minato, a firefighter, who rescued her during an apartment building fire. They are inseparable, but Minato loses his life in an accident at sea. Distraught, Hinako can no longer even look at the ocean, but one day she sings a song that reminds her of Minato, who suddenly appears in the water. From then on, Hinako can, by singing, summon him in any watery surface. Can the two really remain together, and what is the real reason for Minato’s reappearance?
