Lauren Faust Honored at #Action Icon #Awards

The 6th Annual Diamond in the RAW Action Icon Awards Luncheon celebrates action-oriented stuntwomen, extreme sports enthusiasts and A-list talent in Hollywood, while simultaneously preparing the next generation of teen girls for success. This year, Lauren Faust was the recipient of the Action Animation Award for her contributions to animation of creating strong female action characters.

Faust’s credits include working on Cats Don’t Dance, Quest for Camelot, and The Iron Giant as an animator. She shifted to television animation in the 2000s, working on The Powerpuff Girls, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, Super Best Friends Forever,and Wander Over Yonder. She is also the creator and developer of the toy line Milky Way and the Galaxy Girls.

Co-Hosted by Redaric Williams of The Young and the Restless and voice actor Tara Strong, celebrity presenters at the event include Vanessa Bell Calloway, Parvesh Cheena, DJ Shy, Christian Keyes, Sebastian Siegal, Mark Dacascos, Sam Sarpong, Ginny Gardner, Enisha Brewster and Cynthia Rothrock.

Other honorees included Olympic Gold Medalist Gabrielle “Gabby” Douglas (The Dare2BDifferent Award), “Mission Impossible III” and “Nikita” Actress Maggie Q (Action Icon Award), Holly Robinson Peete (Activist Humanitarian Award), Marian Green (Helen Gibson Award), Tammie Baird (Special Achievement Award), and the late Hal Needham (The Lifetime Achievement Award was given posthumously).
